Chia Seeds are an excellent source of plant protein. High in fiber and loaded with antioxidants this little seed can even stabilize blood sugars! Adding chia to smoothies is a wonderful way to get a nice thick texture - perfect on it's own, or as a base for smoothie bowls!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 3/4 cup flavoured or unflavoured yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/2 cup coconut water (adjust to your preferred thickness)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 tablespoons coconut ribbons
- optional to add 1-2 teaspoons of maple syrup or honey if you like it sweet!
Instructions:
- Blend: Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend it all until smooth!
- Taste and adjust: Add any extra ingredients you think it may need ie: Sweetner
- Thicken (optional): If you like it thicker, or are using it as a smoothie bowl base, Let sit in the fridge for an extra 10-15 minutes to give the chia seeds time to expand
- Serve and enjoy!
