Strawberry Chia Coconut Smoothie

Chia Seeds are an excellent source of plant protein. High in fiber and loaded with antioxidants this little seed can even stabilize blood sugars! Adding chia to smoothies is a wonderful way to get a nice thick texture - perfect on it's own, or as a base for smoothie bowls!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 3/4 cup flavoured or unflavoured yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup coconut water (adjust to your preferred thickness)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons coconut ribbons
  • optional to add 1-2 teaspoons of maple syrup or honey if you like it sweet!

 



Instructions:

  1. Blend: Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend it all until smooth! 
  2. Taste and adjust: Add any extra ingredients you think it may need ie: Sweetner
  3. Thicken (optional): If you like it thicker, or are using it as a smoothie bowl base, Let sit in the fridge for an extra 10-15 minutes to give the chia seeds time to expand
  4. Serve and enjoy!
