An Indonesian chili paste made from the simple ingredients of red chili peppers, vinegar, and salt. Sambal is a chili-based condiment, while oelek refers to the mortar and pestle method used to grind it into a coarse paste. Use it as a base for sauces or as a spicy condiment on literally anything! We’re using the little red peppers from Tatlo’s hot pepper mix!
Ingredients:
- 4 oz red chili peppers
- 1½ teaspoons rice vinegar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 garlic clove
- ¼ teaspoon lime juice
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients into a food processor or morter and pestel. Grind until a coarse paste forms.
- Refrigerate and use within 1–2 weeks
