Fresh Almonds are full of moisture, which makes them tender and unique, but also more perishable than the dried almonds you're used to. Here's how to keep them longer:
- Crack them open with a nut cracker (the nuts dry faster out of the shell).
- Spread them in a single layer on a tray or baking sheet in a cool, dry, and well ventilated place. *Avoid sealed containers
- Stir or turn them daily to make sure they dry evenly.
- After 7-10 days, they should feel firmer and less moist. At this point, transfer them into a breathable bag or jar with a loose lid.
- Once fully dried, you can store them in an airtight container in the pantry for months!
Tip: If you'd like to speed up the process, you can dry them in the oven at the lowest temperature for 1-2 hours making sure to check and toss them often.
