These fast-fry short ribs are marinated in a sweet and savory blend of soy, honey, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. They're then seared and braised to perfection in a flavorful sauce that will have everyone reaching for seconds!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fast-fry short ribs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1–2 tbsp orange juice (optional, for flavor enhancement)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water (to mix with the cornstarch)
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (e.g., vegetable oil) for frying
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Ribs:
In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, orange juice (if using), and sesame oil. Add the short ribs, ensuring they’re fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours for a deeper flavor.

2. Prepare the Sauce Base:
Remove the ribs from the marinade, letting the excess drip off, and set the ribs aside. Transfer the marinade to a small bowl and whisk in the cornstarch and water to create a slurry.

3. Sear the Ribs:
Heat a large frying pan or cast-iron skillet over high heat and add the neutral oil. Once the pan is very hot, add the short ribs in a single layer (you may need to cook them in batches). Sear the ribs for about 1 minute per side until caramelized and browned.

4. Braise the Ribs:
Lower the heat to medium and pour the marinade-cornstarch mixture directly into the pan with the ribs. Stir gently to combine, ensuring the sauce coats the ribs. Cover the pan with a lid and let the ribs braise in the sauce for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the ribs are tender and fully cooked.

5. Serve:
Transfer the ribs to a serving platter and spoon any remaining sauce over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

6. Enjoy:
Serve hot with steamed rice, pickled vegetables, or a crisp green salad. For a more casual meal, cut the ribs into smaller pieces and serve family-style as finger food!
