The Tofino-Ucluelet Culinary Guild (TUCG) connects local farmers, fishers, and food producers with restaurants, retailers, schools, and households. We focus on honest food, transparent relationships, and strengthening our coastal food system.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Purchasing/Operations Manager to oversee purchasing, inventory, logistics, and day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, coordination, and working within local food systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase products from local and regional suppliers
- Build and maintain strong producer and vendor relationships
- Forecast demand and manage inventory levels
- Oversee & participate in receiving, order assembly, and weekly distribution
- Oversee availability for online store & B2B channels
- Coordinate delivery schedules and routing
- Track costs, margins, and product availability
- Maintain food safety and quality standards
- Support continuous improvement of operational processes
- Provide leadership and support to operational staff
Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, or operations (preferred)
- Knowledge of food systems, agriculture, or food service an asset
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and inventory/order software
- Shopify experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Supervisory or team leadership experience considered an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
