Halifax Donair Sauce was created in the 1970s by Peter Gamoulakos in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as a sweeter alternative to traditional tzatziki. Gamoulakos was the owner of the long-standing King of Donair, a Halifax institution founded over 50 years ago. In recognition of its cultural impact, the donair was named the official dish of Halifax in 2015!
